Strachan Cracks 5 Hits
|
It was a sensational day at the plate for Joe Strachan as he led the charge to a 9-4 win over the Buckeyes. The Pennsylvania State University second baseman was pure misery for the Ohio State University pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 7 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Strachan put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Jimmy Jacquot, manager for the Buckeyes, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Joe Strachan grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI double in the 9th, flied out in the 11th and doubled in the 13th.
Currently Strachan has 19 home runs and a .275 batting average.
