Mets Deal Dodgers 6-2 Setback
|
New York right fielder Sean Cook helped his team beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-2. Cook, who is tied for 4th in the NL in bases on balls with 52, went 3 for 3 for the Mets. Jeff Jank, the winner, goes to 4-9. He allowed 2 runs on 11 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts over 7.2 innings. Ken Dewey earned the save, his 9th.
The Mets got a big at-bat from designated hitter Roberto Magne. For the game, Magne was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave New York a 4-1 lead.
Cook attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
New York, with the win, climbs to 27-52.
