Yankees Best Angels in Pitching Duel
|
New York starter Arturo Eli put a stranglehold on the California offense. The left-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Yankees to a 2-1 win. The Yankees raised their record to 30-51.
Had Ryan Neal not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Neal hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Yankees.
"I had everything working," said Eli.
