Cubs Drop Royals, 1-0
|
The Kansas City Royals got a superb performance from pitcher Chris Irvin. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Chicago. The Cubs won the game, 1-0. Irvin threw 9.2 innings of 1-hit ball. The win puts Chicago at 33-51.
Chicago won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Chris Irvin on the mound for Kansas City, designated hitter Jose Balderrama hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Cubs fans to their feet.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Balderrama told the Chicago Chronicle.
