Angels Win at Oakland, 9-3
|
The Oakland Athletics and California Angels were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Behind a fine performance from Mark Reeg, the California Angels knocked off the Oakland Athletics, 9-3. Reeg went 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for the Angels. Jonathan Jackson, the winning pitcher, improved to 9-4. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 4.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Preston Deakyne? The California third baseman had a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put the Angels on top, 3-0. For the game, Deakyne had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Reeg.
The win puts California at 49-38 this season.
