Astros Beat California, 4-3
|
California got a terrific performance from pitcher Jeff Baker, but it wasn't enough to beat the Houston Astros. Houston won the Angel Stadium of Anaheim contest, 4-3. Baker threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Lance Crumpton, credited with the win, is now 4-1. He allowed no runs on no hits. Houston is now 37-57, California 55-41.
Houston took a 4-3 lead on Jack Christie's 12th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off California pitcher Keith Pratt in the top of the ninth.
"Winning never gets dull," said Christie.
