5-Hit Game for Blocker
|
Brockton Rox first baseman Jose Blocker had a day to remember at Stoney Creek Stadium today, ripping apart the Hamilton Cardinals and sparking the Rox to a 4-3 victory.
Blocker wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Blocker told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Jose Blocker doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Craig Soole in the 11th.
Blocker currently has a .201 batting average with 68 hits, 10 homers, 26 RBIs, 31 runs scored and a .285 OBP.
