St. Louis Beats Washington, 6-1
|
St. Louis picked up a win at Nationals Park, toppling the Washington Nationals, 6-1. Pitcher Tsugunosuke Murakami was one of the reasons the Cardinals triumphed. Murakami, now 7-9, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Cardinals improve their record to 55-64 with the win over Washington.
The Cardinals got an important contribution from first baseman Armando Carbajal, who in the top of the first hit a first pitch splitter into left-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 3-0.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Carbajal.
