Yankees Outmuscle Baltimore, 12-8
|
Vince Jackson had a good game, but he could not keep the Baltimore Orioles from falling, 12-8, to the New York Yankees at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Baltimore second baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 in the loss. Tim Catalano, now 3-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Isaias Chavez, credited with the save, is now 1 for 2 in save opportunities.
In the top of the seventh, New York first baseman Larry Martell had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Martell stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 10-8, New York. For the game, he went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Martell said.
The Yankees' win now puts them at 51-68.
