1-0 Loss Extends Philadelphia Losing Streak
|
Atlanta Braves starter Curt Stevens turned in a sterling performance against the Philadelphia Phillies, leading his team to a slim 1-0 win. The winning pitcher was Stevens, now 14-8. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 6. The Phillies have now dropped 11 straight.
Early in the game, shortstop Yasuhide Kasahara had a solo home run for Atlanta. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Braves on top, 1-0.
"This team is on a mission," said Stevens, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
