Marlins Bridle Mets, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Miami Marlins and the New York Mets, pitcher Sean Geer was the difference between victory and defeat. The Miami right-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Marlins win. Kwang-sik Kim locked down his 6th save. Miami is now 57-67, while New York is 52-73.
The Marlins got a big at-bat from third baseman Alberto Cotto. For the game, Cotto went 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Miami a 2-1 lead.
"I really like what we did out there today," Geer said after the game.
