Andrews Lifts Pirates to 8-3 Triumph
The first-place Pittsburgh Pirates picked up another win.

The Pittsburgh Pirates powered past the Washington Nationals, 8-3, at PNC Park. Jack Andrews went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3, to lead the charge. Don Boudreau was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.

Andrews contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Pittsburgh in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Andrews took a curveball from Danny Diaz and stroked the home run to right-center. His 18th home run of the season allowed the Pirates to leap in front, 2-1.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Sam Mcg Pittsburgh said.

Pittsburgh goes to 77-50. The win puts them 17 games up in their division.
