1-0 Loss Extends Philadelphia Losing Streak
|
The Philadelphia Phillies got a sterling performance from pitcher James Woods Jr., but the San Francisco Giants still prevailed, 1-0. Woods Jr. threw 8.2 innings of 3-hit ball. Keith Kidd, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 10-10. Earning his 31st save of the year was Caleb Mullinax.
San Francisco relied on the bat of Sean Zielinski to get the win. The second baseman produced a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Giants ahead, 1-0. For the game, Zielinski had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Zielinski.
The Phillies, now 44-83, have lost 16 in a row.
