Mets Lose to Nationals, 3-2
|
Washington Nationals starter Danny Diaz turned in a sterling performance against the New York Mets, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Diaz went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 8-10. The Nationals now own a record of 58-73.
Washington used the bat of Darren McCarty Jr. to capture the win. The third baseman jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Nationals ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," McCarty Jr. said.
