California Wins, Ney goes 4-for-4
|
The California Angels knocked off the Seattle Mariners, 5-0, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Rusty Ney was a big reason California won. The right fielder went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. With the win, California upped its record to 75-60.
California took a 5-0 lead on Preston Deakyne's 14th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Seattle pitcher Omar Colunga in the bottom of the eighth.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Deakyne.
