Braves Win at New York, 7-5
|
Manny Vergara had a 5-RBI game, during Atlanta's 7-5 triumph over the New York Mets. Vergara contributed 1 single and 1 home run to the cause. Sam Schrecengost notched his 36th save in 37 chances. The first-place Braves have won 4 in a row.
Vergara contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Atlanta in the top of the third. With his team trailing 3-2, Vergara took a sinker from Jeff Jank and stroked the home run to left. His 15th home run of the season allowed the Braves to leap in front, 6-3.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Vergara said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
