Athletics Bury Astros, 14-1
|
The Oakland Athletics handed the Houston Astros a sound defeat, 14-1, at Minute Maid Park. Muneo Kawachi was a main contributor to the win. He went 3-5 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3 for Oakland. With the win, Oakland pushed its record to 74-68.
Oakland used the bat of R.J. O'Brien to capture the win. The left fielder jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Athletics ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
Kawachi called the triumph "a good team win."
