Pirates Win Streak Reaches 6
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Cincinnati Reds, 6-5, at Great American Ball Park. The win was due in part to third baseman David Contreras, who went 1 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jeremy Kennie picked up the save, his 32nd. The National League Central Division-leading Pirates have a record of 88-56.
Pittsburgh took the lead in the top of the fifth when Contreras hit a 3-run home run. His 23rd home run of the season made the score 5-4, Pittsburgh.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Pirates manager Sam Mcg Pittsburgh, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
