The Detroit Tigers got a stellar effort from pitcher Aaron Vallejo, helping Detroit score a win over the visiting Cleveland Guardians, 4-2. The Tigers, at 67-80, sit in third place in the American League Central Division.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from left fielder Frank McConnell. For the game, McConnell went 1-2 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Detroit a 4-2 lead.
"I felt good up there," said McConnell. "I saw the ball well."
