Nationals Beat Reds, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Washington Nationals and the Cincinnati Reds, Jon Glenn was the difference-maker. The Washington right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Glenn went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 14-8. Lionardo Rabelo recorded the save for Washington, his 3rd of the season.
Hisayuki Akiyama hit a 2-run home run off Constantino Chamisso in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Nationals ahead, 3-1. In addition to the homer, Akiyama had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Washington manager Mike Shore. "Our pregame was pretty good."
At 68-82, the Nationals are currently third in the National League East Division.
