Guardians Sneak Past Royals, 6-5
|
The Cleveland Guardians topped the Kansas City Royals, 6-5, with first baseman Valentin Laporte playing a big role. Laporte went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Guardians in the win. Chris Cohen earned his 30th save in 34 chances. Cleveland occupies 4th place in the American League Central Division at 68-90.
Laporte had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-2 fastball from Joe Jordahl, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Guardians a 6-4 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Laporte.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Laporte.
