Barefoot Jacks Two Home Runs in 7-4 Atlanta Win
|
The Atlanta Braves beat the San Diego Padres, 7-4, at Petco Park. The win was due in part to third baseman Dave Barefoot, who went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Picking up the win was Jeremy Kasten. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 2. The Braves, at 103-56, have a comfortable 28-game lead in their division.
Floyd-William Goof, the Atlanta first baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to make the score 6-4, Braves. For the game, Goof went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Barefoot. "I just want to win ballgames."
