Vargas Slugs Blue Jays to 6-4 Win
|
The Toronto Blue Jays downed the New York Mets, 6-4, at Citi Field. Efrain Vargas led the way, going 2-for-3 for Toronto. Hoof Harted notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Toronto goes to 5-1.
Toronto used a timely hit from Butch Kaiser to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Kaiser told the Toronto Times.
