Atlanta Tops Philadelphia, 6-1
|
Atlanta beat Philadelphia on the strength of starter Scott Bernstein's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-1. Bernstein went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-0. The Braves, now 4-1, have been playing some good baseball.
The result might have been different for Atlanta, had it not been for Tade Post, the 25-year old catcher . Post stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Atlanta up, 3-1. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Atlanta manager Andres Wray II.
