5 Straight Wins for Braves
|
The Atlanta Braves beat the New York Yankees by a score of 12-4. Atlanta first baseman Floyd-William Goof deserved the lion's share of the credit. Goof went 3 for 5 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Braves. Curt Stevens, the winner, goes to 2-1. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts over 7 innings. Atlanta, now 11-2, is setting the league on fire so far.
Yasuhide Kasahara, the 30-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Kasahara contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Atlanta up, 4-3.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Kasahara.
