Bungledorf Shines in 4-2 Chicago Win
|
The 4-2 Chicago win over Cleveland was due largely to Alfie Bungledorf. The White Sox shortstop slugged 2 home runs. Xenophon Valvis was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Jacob Taylor collected his 5th save.
Marvin McAleer, who finished 2nd in the NL in RBI with 112 in 2046, chipped in for Chicago with a solo home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Chicago manager Jake Turnbull.
Cleveland, now 4-16, continues its dreadful start.
