With speculation about his retirement gaining steam last offseason, Aces ace Takaaki Nakada had something to prove. He proved it in award-winning style as he accepted the National League Outstanding Pitcher Award today.

The veteran Reno hurler posted a record of 17 wins and 2 losses this year with a 2.60 ERA. In 28 starts he struck out 128 and walked 46 in 186.2 innings.

He received 18 first place votes out of a possible 30. Jeff Tavella of the New Orleans Zephyrs finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Kyle Foster of the El Paso Chihuahuas finished third with 1 first place vote.
