Hiraoka Selected AL's Premier Player
Thursday, November 18th , 2049
At the age of 23, Ryoji Hiraoka of the Omaha Storm Chasers could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2049 was good enough to win the shortstop the American League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .249 batting average this year, as well as a .376 on-base percentage. He played 138 games and racked up 128 hits, 14 doubles, 7 triples, 18 home runs, 56 RBIs and 91 runs scored.
He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 30. Bran Stark of the Buffalo Bisons finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Dave Burwell of the Pawtucket Red Sox finished third with 9 first place votes.
