Nunez Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games Thursday, August 19th , 2049 With 2 hits at Spirit Communications Park today, Jose Nunez added another game to his hitting streak -- the Pensacola first baseman has now hit safely for 20 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Blue Wahoos today, as they fell, 4-2, to the Columbia Fireflies. "Frankly, I don't care about hits," Columbia manager Tyler Lyons said later. "I'll let him get 3 hits in 3 at-bats if it means we get a win." Jose Nunez flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 9th. In his season totals, Nunez has 10 home runs, .253 BA, .343 OBP, 50 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has played in 98 games. |
