Nakamura Torches Smokies for 5 Hits Monday, September 20th , 2049 It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Masaya Nakamura today. Nakamura went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Tennessee pitchers. When the dust settled on the diamond at Smokies Park, he had a 5-for-6 line and a day he will long remember. And the Columbia Fireflies had a 14-5 victory over the Smokies. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview. Masaya Nakamura singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This year Nakamura has socked 73 hits in 201 at-bats for a .363 average with 6 home runs. He is getting on base at a .380 pace and his totals also include 37 RBIs and 23 runs scored. |
