Martinez Grabs NL Reliever of the Year Thursday, November 11th , 2049 Edwin Martinez said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 24 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Mobile BayBears rising star has won the National League Reliever of the Year for 2049. He captured the award on the strength of his 1.41 ERA over 63.2 innings. He also had 35 saves in 57 relief appearances, 76 strikeouts and only 22 walks. He received 29 first place votes out of a possible 30. Josh Hubbard of the Mobile BayBears finished second in voting, while Matt Bennett of the Columbia Fireflies finished third with 1 first place vote.
