Hit Parade: Taveras Pops 5 Hits
Saturday, December 11th , 2049
A jubilant Manuel Taveras joined the postgame press conference at Roger Dean Stadium today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Brevard County Manatees pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Jupiter Hammerheads left fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led the Hammerheads to a 4-3 win.
"He made it look easy," said Matt Rothenberg, manager of the Manatees. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Manuel Taveras hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th.
Taveras's current batting average stands at .467 and he has chalked up 1 home run and 10 RBIs.
