Cintron on a Tear, Hits for Cycle
Thursday, January 7th , 2049
Victor Cintron was jubilant as the Potomac Nationals left the field with a 9-3 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays today. He had every right to be.
The 25-year-old second baseman hit for the cycle at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium, had a 4-for-5 game and chalked up 3 RBI and 3 runs to boot.
"It's too bad I can't do that every day," Cintron said with a smile to reporters after the game. "It would do wonders for my batting average."
Potomac manager Blaine Jarvis was "proud" of the second baseman's feat, but was not expecting it to happen.
"Cycles are tough because triples are tough," the skipper said. "As soon as the ball left the bat on that triple, guys were jumping off the bench for him. Honestly, I wasn't sure he was going to be able to leg it out."
Victor Cintron tripled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Jon Thomason in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
This season Cintron has hit at a .333 clip and produced 4 runs batted in, 2 home runs and 8 runs.
