Round 1 Goes the Distance, Lynchburg Prevails
Thursday, January 21st , 2049
The fans in Lynchburg are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in St. Lucie.

The Lynchburg Hillcats finished off the St. Lucie Mets 6-5 in the deciding game of the Round 1 played at Tradition Field.

They took the series 2-1 and will now head to the Division Series.

For his standout play, Lynchburg first baseman Josh Patterson was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.

He batted .500, drove in 1 runs and scored 2 to lead his club to victory.

"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Patterson and that doomed us," said Mets manager Robby Benchio. "Hats off to Lynchburg, though. That was a great series."

The Division Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
