Grasshoppers Copeland Has 18 Ks Saturday, August 21st , 2049 Led by an outstanding performance from starter Byron Copeland, the Greensboro Grasshoppers topped the South Bend Cubs today by a score of 23-0 at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. The 24-year-old Copeland brought his top game to the mound, striking out 18 batters while allowing 1 hit and giving up no walks. "He made a lot of good pitches out there," Cubs manager Tim Tebow said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes." This year Copeland has compiled a 8-13 mark with a 4.68 ERA in 28 starts. |
