Super Swinger -- Velasco Slams 5 Hits Saturday, August 21st , 2049 The Greensboro Grasshoppers swept past the South Bend Cubs 23-0 today at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium, paced by first baseman Miguel Velasco. The 25-year-old Velasco got 5 hits in 5 at-bats, helping to down the Cubs. Miguel Velasco singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Gilberto Alvarado in the 6th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Velasco is hitting .293 this year with 20 home runs and 72 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .366, 50 walks and scored 58 times. |
