Ruckus Reaps 4-Game Suspensions
Saturday, July 24th , 2049
The league commissioner announced that two players had been suspended for inappropriate conduct. He told BNN, "What I'm trying to do with these penalties is say, we can't stop you from doing these things, but if you do them, you have to understand you will pay the consequences."
Baseball can be an intense game and on-field confrontations happen. However, the league disciplinary policy is to punish, sometimes severely, those who decide to settle things with their fists.
When Ronnie Lundy of the Connecticut Tigers and Jose Abanto of the Lowell Spinners got into a scuffle during a game, both players knew that a suspension would be forthcoming.
Sure enough, today it was announced that both players will each receive a 4-game suspension for their actions in a recent game at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium.
On the season, Lundy is batting .270 with 6 home runs and 21 RBIs. He has played in 57 games.
This year Abanto has collected no saves in 18 relief appearances. He has also compiled a 0-2 won-lost mark with a 6.94 ERA and fanned 54 batters in 36.1 innings. Opponents are hitting him at a .237 clip in 2049.
