A jubilant Jason Thrash joined the postgame press conference at Dwyer Stadium today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Eugene Emeralds pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Batavia Muckdogs first baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-7 hitting performance, which led the Muckdogs to a 29-1 win.

"He made it look easy," said Chris Rowley, manager of the Emeralds. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Jason Thrash struck out in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, was hit by a pitch in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 8th.

Currently Thrash is batting .277 with 52 hits and 3 home runs. He has knocked in 31 runs and scored 40 times.
