The National League Reliever of the Year for 2049 has been bestowed on Cincinnati (NYP) Reds relief specialist Brett Grijalva.
The 27-year-old bullpen ace, out of Columbus, Ohio, nailed down the award with 9 saves in 41 relief appearances, 135 strikeouts in 105.2 innings and a record of 6 wins and 2 losses to go with his 1.62 ERA.
He received 18 first place votes out of a possible 30. Matt Slater of the Batavia Muckdogs finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Jason Barber of the Rome Braves finished third with 5 first place votes.
