Diaz Nabs NL Most Valuable Player Award Wednesday, November 24th , 2049 Johnny Diaz of the Hillsboro isn't just a strong veteran presence in New York-Penn League. He's also one of the league's top players.
At the age of 35, the first baseman has been named the recipient of the National League Most Valuable Player Award for 2049.
"At my age you sometimes think of possibly retiring, I'm sure glad I didn't," he said.
On the season, the Rosaryville, Maryland native hit .319 and got on base at a .418 clip. He hit 21 home runs as well as 88 RBI and 82 runs scored.
He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 30. Paul Healy of the Hillsboro Hops finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Paul Corcoran of the Hillsboro Hops finished third with 9 first place votes.
