Bang-up Game: Bemis Slams 3 Homers
Wednesday, September 15th , 2049
The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Washington (APP) Nationals today.
Grand Junction catcher Tom Bemis tripled up on the home runs to propel the Rockies to the 27-1 win at Suplizio Field.
"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Washington (APP) manager Andy Vazquez said. "Bemis hit the heck out of the ball."
In addition to the homers, Bemis collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 7 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."
Tom Bemis hit a solo-shot off Steve Boice in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Faradur Bhutani in the 5th, walked in the 6th, walked in the 7th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Matt Crowley in the 8th and walked in a run in the 8th.
Bemis has a .289 average and a .452 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 87 hits, 54 home runs and driven in 131 runs.
