Gonzales Joins 3-HR Club Wednesday, September 22nd , 2049 Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, William Gonzales can celebrate. The Seattle (APP) Mariners first baseman powered three into the stands at Mariners Complex today against the Pulaski Yankees. "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Gonzales told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one." In all, he was 3-for-5 as the Mariners toppled Pulaski by a score of 10-2, knocking in 5 runs and scoring 3 times. "He is blessed with a natural home run swing," Seattle (APP) manager Greg Thorpe said. "He gets the ball up in the air." William Gonzales struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Tim Berberich in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Yoshida Abe in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Jordan Medina in the 8th. For the season Gonzales has hit .360 with 80 home runs and 168 RBIs. He has played in 112 games and scored 122 times. |
