Manta and Frey Suspended for Free-for-All Monday, October 4th , 2049 Yesterday at Lindquist Field Fernão Manta and Aaron Frey got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Ogden Raptors and Danville Braves. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Manta will have to sit out 4 while Frey would be given a 8-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. This year Manta is batting .356 with 47 home runs and 140 RBIs. Thus far this season, Frey has tossed 100.2 innings in 15 starts, fanned 92 batters, walked 73 and put up a 9.21 ERA with 6 wins and 7 losses. |
