3 Bombs for Sal Esparza
Friday, October 15th , 2049
Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Mustangs-Phillies game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball.
Billings second baseman Sal Esparza thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Billings to a 29-2 win over Philadelphia (APP).
"Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Esparza said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run."
Esparza was 3-for-7 on the day with 6 runs batted in.
Sal Esparza hit a two-run home run off Marc Haigler in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Robert Chauvel in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Takuzo Sato in the 6th, flied out in the 7th, struck out in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.
So far this season Esparza is batting .227 with 15 home runs, 70 RBIs and 65 runs scored. He has 94 hits in 414 at-bats, 36 walks and a .308 OBP. Esparza has played in 114 games.
