Saturday, December 11th , 2049
He may have less experience than most of his Appalachian League peers, but that didn't slow William Gonzales down at all in 2049.
At the age of 22, the Seattle (APP) first baseman has been named the winner of the American League Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .360 batting average and a .509 on-base percentage this year. In 136 games he piled up 162 hits, 24 doubles, no triples, 94 home runs, 197 RBIs and 145 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 23 first place votes out of a possible 30. Russ Cornett of the Great Falls Voyagers finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Jerry Foster of the Texas (APP) Rangers finished third.
