No Late-Season Magic Coming: St. Louis Out of Playoffs Tuesday, September 28th , 2049 It won't be a season to remember for the St. Louis Cardinals, as the club has officially missed out on the playoffs. The Cardinals were mathematically eliminated from qualification today. "With any luck, in a couple years we will look back on the 2049 season as an important stepping stone to a title," said St. Louis second baseman Antoine Roux. St. Louis last appeared in the postseason in 2042. This is their 7th consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 122 times in their 158 - year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Cardinals have missed the playoffs 5 times. St. Louis last won the World Series in 2011. |
