Reliever Valdivia September's Pitcher of the Month Friday, October 1st , 2049 Tough in the clutch -- that's a bullpen specialist. And one of the best in the league is Mario Valdivia of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Valdivia was outstanding in September and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the National League. Arizona's star reliever held the opposition to a .115 average and put up 5 saves and 22 strikeouts in 16.1 innings with a 3-0 mark and a 1.10 ERA. Valdivia has nailed down 10 saves for the year. He has also totaled 103 strikeouts and 25 walks in 71.2 innings while registering a 2.39 ERA and a 7-2 won-lost record. |
