3 Boomers for Alm Sunday, October 3rd , 2049 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Chicago Cubs today. Cincinnati left fielder Mike Alm tripled up on the home runs to propel the Reds to the 11-5 win at Wrigley Field. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Chicago manager Mergatroid Skittle said. "Alm hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Alm collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Mike Alm walked in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Josh MacQueen in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Pat Powell in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Steve DiDomenico in the 9th. Thus far this season Alm is hitting .269 with 26 home runs, 57 RBIs and 47 runs scored. He has 98 hits in 364 at-bats and has played in 101 games. |
