Zacharia Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Braves
Wednesday, October 20th , 2049
Bigger paychecks might be in the offing if Phil Zacharia continues to hit like he did today against the Atlanta Braves. The San Diego Padres left fielder crushed three into the stands at Turner Field in a remarkable performance, propelling the Padres to the 10-7 win over the Atlanta Braves.
"If you want to get paid in this league, you've gotta earn it," he said later. "I earned my paycheck today."
He tagged 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 6 runs and scored 3 times.
"We made three mistakes and he made us pay each time," Atlanta manager Andres Wray II said later.
Phil Zacharia walked in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jeremy Kasten in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Matthew Spurrell in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Salisbury Swanson in the 8th.
Zacharia is currently batting .319 with 37 home runs, 107 RBIs and 124 runs scored. He has 167 hits in 523 at-bats.
