Kyle Curve of the Texas Rangers said he never set out to win the American League Reliever of the Year this season, but he'll certainly take it.

"2049 was a pretty good year for me, that much is obvious," he said. "This is icing on the cake."

The 31-year-old out of Gilroy, California fashioned a 1.81 ERA this season over 99.2 innings of work. He made 86 relief appearances and had 14 saves, 109 strikeouts, 20 walks and a record of 8 wins and 7 losses.

He received 19 first place votes out of a possible 30. Bryan Banana of the California Angels finished second in voting with 10 first place votes, while Inkei Wakamatsu of the Minnesota Twins finished third.
